Delaware closing Covid-19 waitlist as vaccines become more plentiful

The Delaware Division of Public Health will close the Cvid-19 vaccination waitlist to new sign-ups on Friday, May 7, by 3 p.m.
The division will focus on providing the public with information about available vaccination opportunities throughout the state. Some of those sites allow walk-ins.
The waitlist, which opened on Jan. 20, was a necessary and useful way of getting the then-scarce vaccine to those who needed it most based on assessing age and health conditions.
It allowed appointment invitations to be prioritized first among those 65 and over starting in January, then those 50 and over in March, and lastly those 16 and over in April as each new phase of eligibility opened.

Pharmacies in Delaware are beginning to administer the COVID-19 vaccine without requiring appointments.
Rite Aid began accepting walk-ins at all locations last Friday. CVS, Walmart and Sam s Club announced Wednesday they are now accepting walk-ins at all locations.
Smaller local pharmacies are also administering the COVID-19 vaccine and some are vaccinating without appointments. Camden Pharmacy, an independent pharmacy on Route 13 who s been among the state s leaders in vaccines administered, offers first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine to walk-ins from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
