This year will be the calm for N.J. drivers before a toll increase storm

The new year might be the last year of its type for New Jersey drivers, a year without toll increases.
In sports, 2021 would be known as a “bye” year, since the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey increased tolls in 2020 and the Delaware River Port Authority voted not to increase tolls this year.
The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission also approved a 2021 budget that did not call for a toll increase.
But 2021 may be the last such year since three major toll agencies move to an automatic toll increase process, based on economic indicators.
