The Pennsylvania House has passed legislation designed to reign in the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission, an effort that could win favor with motorists fed up with escalating toll costs.
House Bill 607, introduced by State Rep. Joe Emrick, amends the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission Compact by providing veto power for the governor over certain actions; allows for an annual, joint audit of the commission s finances and management operations by both the auditor general of Pennsylvania and the state auditor of New Jersey; and grants the governor of each state with the power to ratify or veto certain actions taken by commissioners.

Starting today, toll prices are on the rise at seven
bridges connecting New Jersey to Pennsylvania.
News 12 New Jersey s Keith Kocinski was at the New
Hope-Lambertville toll bridge where E-ZPass toll prices are now $1.25, up from
$1. For cash tolls, it’s an increase from $1 to $3.
In total, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission
increased the prices of tolls at seven bridges connecting the two states. It’s
the first systemwide toll adjustment in 10 years.
New tolls are in effect at the following bridges:
