Delaware Public Health District: Vaccination start dates listed for older adults
Vaccinations for those over age 80 began Jan. 19. It is extremely important to note that vaccine availability is very limited, said health commissioner Shelia Hiddleson. At this point in time, requests for appointments have exceeded available doses. Therefore, even if a person is eligible to receive a vaccine, there s a strong possibility they may not receive it during the particular time frame assigned to their age or group.

• Delaware Public Health District – Qualifying residents may sign up to receive their vaccination from the health district at bit.ly/3puGGuS. Individuals without email access should call the district at 740-368-1700, and a staff member will complete caller registration.

It was a good morning when students returned to Delaware City Schools buildings Jan. 11 after a long absence, said district public-information officer Jennifer Ruhe. I have to tell you both students and staff seemed super elated this morning. They were very excited to see each other. I think a lot of energy in the building. Tons of energy, tons of excitement and tons of smiles, Ruhe said.
Because of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, the district began the school year with a hybrid curriculum schedule for the families who had selected it.
Participating students rotated between classes in school buildings and remote learning at home. Families also could select an all-remote learning plan.
