Erica Saunders credits her faith, her family, her friends and DBCC’s Young Survivors in Action with helping her through her breast cancer journey. The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition’s Young Survivors in Action program helps younger women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer navigate their diagnosis, treatment, and post-treatment pathways. These young survivors have access to networking, support, education, and activities that encourage them to continue to survive and thrive. Young Survivors in Action takes a holistic approach to the activities, support, and education provided and encourages each survivor to continue to learn and grow encouraging them to keep moving forward and live their lives to the fullest!

Breast cancer update set Feb 10 via Zoom

January 19, 2021 The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition’s 23rd Annual Breast Cancer Update will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 10, via Zoom. The breast cancer update will again be offered as an educational conference free to the public, but advance registration is required. A panel of leading medical breast cancer experts will discuss the latest developments in treatment and care for breast cancer patients, survivors and their families, physicians, nurses, students and allied health professionals. Nationally renowned speakers in the breast cancer field will educate the community about the innovative research, treatment, and programs available in Delaware.

Freeman Stage volunteer to receive governor s recognition

December 21, 2020 Maureen Griffith will be honored with a Governor’s Outstanding Volunteer Service Award during a Jan. 18 virtual ceremony. SUBMITTED PHOTO The Freeman Stage, a program of the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation, announced one of its volunteers, Maureen Griffith, has been selected to receive the Governor’s Outstanding Volunteer Service Award as an Emerging Volunteer Leader. The formal announcement of the 2020 honorees was made during a Facebook Live broadcast Dec. 11. Recipients will be honored during a virtual awards ceremony at 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 18.  As a member of The Freeman Stage volunteer corps, Griffith has spent six years on the Volunteer Advisory Committee, a peer-appointed leadership group whose members are both advocates and liaisons between the corps and staff. She serves as the committee’s secretary. Griffith also sits on the volunteer newsletter subcommittee where she contributes articles to the bimonthly publication.

December 17, 2020 The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition announced the 23rd Annual Breast Cancer Update will be held virtually from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 10, via Zoom. The update will again be offered as an educational conference free to the public, but registration is required in advance. The event will feature leading medical breast cancer panel experts and informational resources, offering the latest developments in treatment and care to breast cancer survivors and their families, physicians, nurses, students and allied health professionals. Certificates of attendance documenting 4 contact hours and 4 continuing education units will be available to nurses, social workers and other healthcare professionals.
