Pandemic, forex blunts Telefonica in Q4 - Mobile World Live 25 FEB 2021 Telefonica highlighted progress in attempts to restructure the business and cut its debt pile, though Covid-19 (coronavirus) and negative currency movements cost it more than €1.5 billion in Q4 revenue. CEO Jose Maria Alvarez-Pallete ( pictured) said the company had “lived up to the challenge” of the pandemic, aided by moves already made as part of a sweeping restructure plan unveiled in 2019. The executive pointed to a jump in earnings from its recently formed Telefonica Tech division, which houses business areas deemed high growth including cybersecurity services, cloud, big data and IoT. Improvements were partly attributed to higher demand from companies upping digital transformation efforts inspired by the pandemic.

Telefónica s net income grows 38 5% in 2020 to reaches €1 582 billion, Access Evolution

Feb 25, 2021 Telefónica demonstrates its management efficiency and financial strength during the pandemic with cash generation of €4,794 million for the full year. The company shows a progressive improvement both in commercial and operational activity in the last quarter of the year, with revenues of €10,909 million. The Group cuts net financial debt by over €2,500 million in 2020. Since mid-2016 it has been reduced by €17,000 million. Telefónica will propose to the next AGM the shareholder remuneration policy for 2021, a voluntary scrip dividend of 0,30 euros per share. Telefónica increased its total volume of accesses to 345.4 million, in a year marked by greater customer satisfaction and loyalty.
