Tuesday’s news of IndyCar’s media rights deal of the future with NBC is a vote of confidence in the series not yet eclipsed since Roger Penske took ownership more than 18 months ago. It’s an IMS-sized billboard that say, in no uncertain terms, “This is working.”
Penske’s purchase of the series signaled that IndyCar’s biggest name saw a potential worth investing in, as well as a history he hoped to preserve. While the Olympics are already starting with plenty of controversy and the health of athletes top of mind in light of the still-real COVID-19 pandemic the soccer part of the competition is set to kick off overnight.
Five OL Reign players will be representing their countries in the tournament:
Megan Rapinoe and Rose Lavelle will be trying to help Team USA do what no country has ever done before: win Olympic Gold after winning the most recent World Cup.
Nicole Momiki will try to help Japan earn a Gold Medal in their home country something Japan has been building toward since the 2015 World Cup, when they lost to the U.S. in the final.

NTT IndyCar Series decided to remain with NBC Sports as its TV outlet for at least the next few years.
There had been talk about IndyCar potentially forming its own TV network or perhaps joining forces with another streaming service.
As part of the deal, two as-yet-undetermined races will air solely on Peacock. That’s not going to sit well with some IndyCar fans who don’t subscribe to Peacock.
After much discussion and dipping its toes in the water with other outlets, the NTT IndyCar Series decided to remain with NBC Sports as its TV outlet for at least the next few years, it was announced Tuesday.
