SiLC Technologies, a Monrovia, Calif.-based machine vision company focused on advancing machine vision applications, raised $17m in Series A funding. The round, which brings total funding to over $30m, was led by Alter Venture Partners and Dell Technologies Capital with participation from Fluxunit – OSRAM Ventures, Sony Innovation Fund by IGV , Epson, UMC Capital, Yamato Holdings and Global Brain. The company intends to use the funds to expand operations, accelerate product development and gain additional production design wins – all in preparation for pre-production and product launch activities. Backers included Greenspring Associates, March Capital, NGP Capital, and Wipro Ventures, as well as existing investors Ten Eleven Ventures, Intel Capital, DFJ Growth, Dell Technologies Capital, Citi Ventures, and Okta Ventures. SiMa.ai, a San Jose, CA-based machine learning company advancing high-performance compute for computer vision applications, raised $80m in Series B financing. The round, which brought the total amount raised to date to $120m, was led by Fidelity Management & Research Company with participation from Adage Capital Management and existing investors Amplify Partners, Dell Technologies Capital, Wing Venture Capital, Alter Venture Partners, and +ND Capital. The company intends to use the funds to: productize its first generation machine learning SoC (MLSoC™) platform, as well as jumpstart the second generation product architecture and development, to execute go-to-market strategy, drive customer success, and expand the team and operations globally.
