The incident occurred in Asaba, the Delta State Capital, DAILY POST can report.
It was learned that officials of the Security Outfit were on a routine stop and search operation when they stopped a young man but he refused and zoomed off.
They gave him a hot chase and shot sporadically in the air, killing the woman and injuring a young man in the process.
When contacted for comments, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya in a telephone chat with Our Correspondent in Warri said, “We are still trying to find out what happened. We don’t want to be too quick to speak only to retract our statement.”

Two unidentified suspected armed robbers met their waterloo after they were burnt to death at about 7 am on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Ugbokodo in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State by an irate mob.
The two suspected robbers were said to be members of a four-man gang that allegedly raped a pregnant woman at about 2:00 a.m on Tuesday at the Holy Ghost Dominion Bible Church axis in Ugbokodo.
After the suspected armed robbers were caught by members of the community, they pleaded for their lives to be saved, all to no avail.
Eyewitnesses said the gang had robbed their victims of valuables including money and mobile phones.

One of the three-man gang narrowly escaped from the scene of the incident, DAILY POST reports.
It was learnt that the deceased suspect were in a robbery operation in the area.
They had robbed some residents of unspecified amount of money and other personal effects at gunpoints.
They were apprehended after one of the residents who after being robbed raised alarm, which attracted the mob as they gave the suspects a hot chase.
In the process, two out of the three suspects were caught and quickly set ablaze while the other escaped.

A hit and run vehicle has knocked a yet-to-be identified man dead at the Airport junction in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, DAILY POST can report.
The deceased was crossing the road when the vehicle on high speed crushed him to death and fled the scene immediately.
His remains have been evacuated to the morgue by the Police in the area.
When contacted for comments, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya promised to get back to our correspondent with the identity of the deceased.
