An oxygen langar was organised by a gurdwara in south Delhi s Greater Kailash for coronavirus patients, according to a statement.
Small cylinders were refilled at the langar, organised on behalf of the management committee of Gurdwara Singh Sabha at Greater Kailash Part 1 in collaboration with former Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee chairperson Manjit Singh GK.
The initiative was organised to provide relief from pandemonium and black marketing, the statement said.
GK urged managers of all the religious places to come forward to serve the public in the pandemic, it added.
DSGMC plans to convert it into COVID care facility
The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has opened a 100-bed hospital near Sarai Kale Khan that provides dialysis. DSGMC officials said that there are plans to convert it into a COVID care facility as well in the near future.
DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa said, “Several people are turning up for treatment already. This is the biggest ‘sewa’ for humanity. There will be over 100 beds reserved for dialysis. This will be a completely free facility and several people have also voluntarily made contributions towards this facility.”
With a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases, Mr. Sirsa said that the DSGMC will also open a facility having over 200 oxygen-supported beds at the Rakabgunj Gurudwara, by next week.
Amid the oxygen crisis that has hit the country including Delhi following the second wave of coronavirus, a camp has been set up in the national capital near the Jangpura-Bhogal area where Covid-infected patients are being provided oxygen. What s more heartening is 10 empty cylinders were brought from Patiala in Punjab to deal with the issue of shortage of cylinders. On behalf of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, a group named Hum Chakar Gobind Ke has set up this camp. Previously, the group members were were transporting the oxygen cylinder to the houses but the increasing number of patients made the task a bit difficult for them.
