NEW DELHI: After being closed for nearly 10 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic, schools in Delhi are set to reopen from Monday for students of Classes 10 and 12. However, parents are still in a quandary whether to allow their wards to attend.
The Delhi government has decided to reopen schools, shut since the first 21 day nationwide lockdown was imposed in March, 2020, in the view of the upcoming CBSE board exams.
Schools that reopen will have to follow the standard operating procedures (SOP) issued in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, including social distancing, compulsory mask wearing and sanitisation and others.

Schools in Delhi will reopen from today (January 18) after remaining shut for 10 months due to the pandemic. Schools in the national capital were closed since March 19 to restrict the movement of children and check the spread of coronavirus.
According to the Delhi government s order, all schools outside COVID-19 containment zones will reopen for Classes 10 and 12 from January 18. Schools inside containment zones will not be allowed to function and students, teachers from such zones will not be allowed to come to schools. Schools have been directed to follow all COVID-19 guidelines. The decision was taken in view of board exams. According to the Directorate of Education, no physical attendance will be compulsory. Students will attend schools only with consent of parents.

Schools in Delhi have re-opened today after being closed since March, 2020. Classes have resumed for students in standards 10 and 12 in view of the upcoming board examinations. The Delhi government on Sunday allowed all schools outside containment zones to resume functioning and directed authorities to ensure social distancing norms are followed.
“We have taken a little risk by reopening schools”, Delhi Education Minister, Manish Sisodia said today as students of classes 10 and 12 returned to their classrooms after 10 months when the coronavirus lockdown was enforced. Schools across Delhi have since then remained closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
