New Delhi, May 3 : Petrol pump owners have urged Lt Governor Anil Baijal and Delhi police to at least open one side of the road at the Singhu border so that fuel retail business could resume after months of closure.
In a letter written to LG, the Delhi Petrol Dealers Association has said that police should open one side of the road particularly Delhi-Panipat side as farmers have agreed to give way in wake of the wide spread of Covid pandemic.

Fuel pumps allegedly facing closure at Singhu border due to the ongoing protest of farmers and the barricading of roads on both sides of the highway, have urged the Delhi Lieutenant-Governor and the Delhi police to open one side of the road.
The pump owners have particularly asked that the Delhi-Panipat side be opened as farmers have agreed to give way in the wake of spread of the COVID pandemic.
“Several fuel pumps and other business establishments are closed for sale due to ongoing farmers agitation for more than five months now with no income are facing closure and has become difficult to sustain hundreds of employees,” said Rajeev Jain, one of the fuel pump owners at Singhu border and executive member of Delhi Petrol Dealers Association (DPDA).

Petrol and diesel prices have risen again sharply on the back of a surge in global crude prices that has taken it above $ 61 a barrel mark.
The oil marketing companies on Thursday decided to continue raising the price of petrol and diesel with the pump price increasing by 25 paise and 30 paise per litre respectively in Delhi.
With this, petrol is now priced at Rs 87.85 a litre and diesel Rs 78.03 a litre in the national capital. With the price rise the petroleum product prices have now reached new historic high levels.
