New Delhi [India], April 6 (ANI): Toxic foam was seen floating in the Yamuna river at Kalindi Kunj in the national capital on Tuesday.
Environmentalists earlier have stated that the reason for the frothing could be the release of certain gases when reacting with few specific bacteria.
Toxic foam at the Yamuna river hit global headlines when in 2019 pictures of devotees of Chhat puja were seen standing in waist-deep toxic forth in the Yamuna at Kalindi Kunj.
Experts when asked about the particular episode of the surge in toxic level, stated that the froth was a common thing in the Yamuna but has increased in the last five-six years.

NGT directs Delhi chief secretary to resolve dispute between SDMC and DJB over supply of water

The tribunal s direction came on a plea filed by South Delhi Municipal Corporation contending that the Corporation is maintaining 6822 parks.
The plea stated that the DJB has to ensure supply of treated water with adequate pressure and wherever piped supply is not available, to supply such water by tankers.
The National Green Tribunal has directed the Delhi chief secretary to resolve the dispute between South Delhi Municipal Corporation and the Delhi Jal Board over supply of water through tankers. A been headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel said the issue can be better resolved at the higher level in the administration, taking into account all practical considerations, including availability of funds and need for conserving scarce resource of drinking water.

The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) issued a penalty of ₹40 lakh to the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) for a recent fire at the Ghazipur landfill, said authorities.
After the fire, Environment Minister Gopal Rai had directed the DPCC to hold an inquiry and the fine was imposed on his directions.
He said they have also asked the EDMC to prepare a detailed report on the steps they are taking. “The EDMC should submit this report within 15 days of getting the notice. The DPCC report also shows that the civic body had no proper arrangements to douse the fire,” Mr. Rai said.
