The Ministry of Development (MoD) have planted 560 saplings around the ministry’s premises since the beginning of the year, with the aim of reaching 2,000 tress by the second quarter, said Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar.
He added that the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) planted some 200 saplings on December 31, which he hopes has motivated other ministries to follow suit.
The minister, in his capacity as the Co-Chairman of the Brunei Darussalam National Council on Climate Change (BNCCC) at a tree planting ceremony yesterday, believes that climate action is about stepping up, working together and putting the interests of future generations.

Brunei Darussalam’s 37th National Day celebration will take place in a different format this year, by adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the Ministry of Health (MoH). This was confirmed by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin in his opening remarks as the Chair of the first meeting of the 37th National Day Celebration Executive Committee at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) building on Monday.
