Nineteen have been identified in the
Halifax area, with four related to travel outside of
Atlantic Canada, nine close contacts of previously reported cases and six under investigation.

HIGH RIVER A vaccination clinic for thousands of workers at a southern Alberta beef-packing plant has been postponed due to a delay in a shipment of the Moderna vaccine. Cargill spokesman Daniel Sullivan says the company is disappointed, but remains ready to help vaccinate its employees. Alberta Health says it was counting on the Moderna shipment for the clinic, which will open as soon as possible. Nearly half the 2,200 workers at Cargill s facility at High River, south of Calgary, contracted the novel coronavirus and two employees died. Immunizations were to be provided by occupational health nurses with Cargill and by doctors with local primary health networks.

In 1921, Canadian tenor Roger Doucet was born in Montreal. He was best-known for singing O Canada at the home games of the Montreal Canadiens, Alouettes and Expos. Doucet also performed the national anthem at special events in the U.S. He died in 1981.
In 1924, Ira Louvin, who formed a gospel and bluegrass duo with his brother Charlie, was born in Rainesville, Ala. The Louvin Brothers first gained notice in the 50s with their talking gospel songs, such as Satan is Real and Make Him a Soldier. Their secular hits included When I Stop Dreaming and I Don t Believe You ve Met My Baby. He died in a 1965 car crash in Missouri.
