BEMIDJI A full Bemidji City Council will take on several items for discussion Monday, as soon as the newest member of the governing body is sworn in.
In the special election, Jourdain earned 524 votes while Larson received 410. Jourdain, an employment specialist with the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe, had advanced with Larson from a special election in November, where they finished ahead of two other candidates.

BEMIDJI Another newcomer to local government will be joining the Bemidji City Council soon after Tuesday s special election.
According to results from the Bemidji City Clerk s office, 35-year-old Daniel Jourdain has defeated Dave Larson, 76, for the at-large seat on the council. In total, Jourdain received 524 votes, while Larson earned 410.
Jourdain, an employment specialist with the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe, and Larson, a semi-retired architect, were the top two finishers in a previous special election held in November. In the Bemidji Armory, the Ward 2 polling place, Election Judge Linda Lemmer remarked that the morning had been slow. As of 9:30 a.m. only 11 people had voted so far since the polls opened at 7 a.m. The polls close at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Voters should cast their ballots at their regular polling place for this special election.
City sending out replacement ballots for at-large special election based on witness signature requirement
The city of Bemidji is having to send out replacement ballots to a few dozen voters ahead of next week s special election for the at-large seat because they ve lacked witness signatures. BEMIDJI A date has been set to conclude the city of Bemidji s election season that began in spring 2020.
On Feb. 9, 2021, the city will hold a special election to determine who will hold the at-large seat through 2022. The seat was vacated in summer 2020 when Jim Thompson, who was elected in 2018, resigned because of health reasons.
