Major coronavirus metrics continue to head lower in the US, and now also globally. New cases in the US during the week ending May 8th were down 18.6% from new cases during the week ending May 1st, and are now down 83.3% from the January peak; this week also saw fewer new cases than any week since September. This week s US deaths attributed to Covid were 6.8% lower than the prior week s, and down 80.5% from the January high; US Covid deaths are now at the lowest rate since since the second week of July.

ADM to build $350 million soybean plant in North Dakota
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) Agribusiness conglomerate Archer Daniels Midland Co. on Monday announced that it will build a $350 million soybean crushing plant in North Dakota.
It’s the state’s first dedicated soybean plant, the Decatur, Illinois-based company and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum said.
Archer Daniels Midland said the plant and refinery in Spiritwood, in east-central North Dakota, would create 70 jobs and process up to 150,000 bushels of soybeans daily. It’s expected to be completed by the 2023 harvest.
(Spiritwood, ND) Archer Daniels Midland will be investing 350-million dollars into building a soybean crushing plant in Spiritwood.
“This soybean processing plant is a game changer for North Dakota farmers, adding value and expanding the market for this important crop closer to home while also supporting the production of products such as renewable green diesel right here in North Dakota,” said Governor Doug Burgum. “Now, with innovative leader ADM and collaboration with local economic development and multiple state agencies, this exciting value-added project has come to fruition. We’re deeply grateful for ADM’s investment in our state and our highly productive farmers as well as the tireless efforts of so many who helped make this happen, including the Office of State Tax Commissioner, the Jamestown/Stutsman County Development Corp., North Dakota Department of Commerce, North Dakota Department of Agriculture, Lt.
