Regional Head of Programme (Maternity Cover)

14 May 2021 Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Regional Head of Programme (maternity cover) to be responsible for the overall strategy implementation and successful coordination of DRC programmes in West Africa. DRC has been operating in West Africa since 1998. The DRC West Africa Regional Office (hereafter: WARO) is based in Dakar, Senegal, and covers six countries outside of Senegal. Led by the Regional Director, the DRC WARO oversees, supports and provides strategic directions for DRC’s Country Offices within the region, which currently includes Mali, Burkina Faso, the Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon and the Central African Republic.

S/he is directly responsible for the oversight of program implementation as well as direct management of support functions for a base which counts around 50-60 DRC staff. The Base Manager, in close collaboration with the Program Coordinators and with the support of the Area Manager based in Sittwe, will promote programme integration and guarantee the effective delivery of activities in the area. In Kosovo, DRC has been operating since 1998, initially providing emergency relief and, since 2003, focusing on minority returns. Currently we work with returnees, IDPs and minority communities to promote the achievement of durable solutions and community stabilization. AB Overall purpose of the role: Under the supervision of the Country Director, the Project Manager is responsible for planning, assessments, implementation, monitoring and reporting of project activities, including shelter activities as well as livelihoods and inter-ethnic community building activities in Kosovo in collaboration with the DRC Architect and Engineer and other project staff. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing a stand-alone project with a large shelter component involving full construction (apartment buildings) as well as shelter activities
