MADISON (WKOW) The two people charged with the beating of a state senator have been offered a deal by prosecutors that would include no jail time and deferred prosecution.

Samantha Hamer and Kerida O Reilly are each charged with felony substantial battery as a party to a crime for the attack on Sen. Tim Carpenter (D-Milwaukee) during a night of protest and vandalism on the Capitol Square last June.
Hamer and O Reilly were protesting racial inequities in policing when video from Carpenter s camera appears to capture them charging him to try to stop him from taking video or photographs. SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. Five men are facing attempted homicide charges in connection with a targeted shooting that left one man hospitalized in September 2020.
Officers with the Sun Prairie Police Department responded to the Foxdale Apartments on Foxdale Drive for a report of a shooting the night of Sept. 9, 2020. When they arrived, officers found a 19-year-old who was shot inside an apartment. He was hospitalized with wound and eye injuries.
Authorities announced Wednesday that they’ve referred charges to the Dane County District Attorney’s Office for five people in connection with the shooting.
Jerrod Worzella, 24, is facing attempted first-degree homicide and felon in possession of a firearm charges. The four other men, 36-year-old Curtis Gadke, 29-year-old Luke Harmon, 23-year-old Riley Esselman and 37-year-old Brandon Hermanson are all facing attempted first-degree homicide party-to-a-crime charges.

FITCHBURG, Wis. A Fitchburg man is facing several tentative charges following a drug investigation early Thursday morning.
Special response teams from the Fitchburg and Sun Prairie police departments executed a search warrant at an apartment on the 2100 block of High Ridge Trail, according to a news release.
Fitchburg police began an investigation in late 2020 after receiving complaints of repeated drug deals at the apartment complex. Officials said concerned community members told police the deals were happening at the main entrance of an apartment building, resulting in the warrant.
The release said 12.5 pounds of marijuana and a stolen handgun were found inside the apartment. Police also seized more than $7,000 in cash.
