Mother killed, 5 children injured in crash on I-64

May 15, 2021 / 08:58 AM EST Evansville, Ind. (WISH) A woman is dead and five of her children are injured following a Friday night crash on Interstate 64 in Posey County, Indiana State Police say. Authorities were called to I-64 at mile marker 3 around 8 p.m. Friday for a single-car crash. They say 32-year-old Whitney Steverson of Evansville was driving east in a pickup truck and swerved into the passing lane to avoid rear-ending another vehicle. According to police, Steverson attempted to steer away from the median but overcorrected and crossed both eastbound lanes before the car rolled and came to a rest on its side. Steverson was pronounced dead.

William G Bennett – Albion

95-year-old William G. Bennett of Albion, died on May 6, at Linda E. White Hospice at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born July 17, 1925 to Ellis and Amy (Guyot) Bennett in Albion. On June 1, 1947 he married Velma Mundhank in Albion. William joined the Navy even before he graduated high school. His dad signed so he could serve in WWII, so for the next 4 years, 1943 to 1947 he served his country overseas and, in the battles, and then after the war. He returned home and met the love of his life and married her that same year. When the Korean Conflict began, he served our country again for a couple of years. His life was centered around serving God. He was a member of the Little Wabash United Methodist Church of rural West Salem, and then later Ellen Moore United Methodist Church in Fairfield. (WFIE) - It’s National Nurses Day, and Tri-State nurses are celebrating a very much-deserved day of appreciation. Nurses are finding joy a year after the COVID-19 pandemic rocked their world. “Today is National Nurses Day, and we are here celebrating our nurses,” Jillian Swearer, the chief nursing officer at Deaconess Midtown Hospital said. 2020 was a year that reminded us just how valuable nurses are. “There’s a lot of trauma that has occurred with our staff,” Swearer said. “Just with the difficulty with taking care of these patients and we saw a lot of patients pass away.”

Hershel Cullison – Grayville

Hershel Cullison, age 70 of Grayville passed away Sunday evening, April 11, 2021 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. Hershel was born in White County on January 6, 1951 to Verdane and Corene (Bassett) Cullison. Hershel was a mechanic in Albion running a shop north of the square with two friends for several years. He married Margaret Gibson in 1996 and together they enjoyed their combined family and many happy times until her passing on September 23, 2020. Hershel was a devoted family man and found his greatest joy in spending time with family and friends, listening to country music, drinking beer, fishing, and playing as many pranks on people as possible. Hershel was a member of the Lighthouse Church in Grayville and enjoyed attending the in-house church services at Meadowood Nursing Home while a resident there these past few years. Left to cherish many wonderful memories are three sons, Robert Gibson and Brandon Cullison of Mt. Carmel, and Vance Nease; five daughters
