A Pierce County woman has been charged with vehicular homicide after she admitted to using social media while driving and hit a man changing a flat tire on Interstate 5.  On May 10, Karly Cecil was driving on I-5 while checking her Facebook and struck 78-year-old Kyang Park, who was changing his tire along the side of the road. Park died at the scene from his injuries, according to officials.  Cecil was arrested and has now been charged, but she was released on bail Tuesday after her court appearance.

Pierce County sheriff’s deputies were called to the Woodmark Apartments in the 2400 block of 96th Street South around 2 a.m. Thursday after the victim began going door to door trying to get help. A neighbor called 911 after the man showed up at her door with slashes and stab wounds to his neck. Police said the victim lives in the apartment complex. “I was trying to ask him questions because I don’t know him well enough, and he couldn’t even speak. He sounded like he was gurgling blood and he kept spitting out blood,” said Nevaeh Brewer.
