Libraries in Dumfries, Woodbridge, Dale City, Manassas, Haymarket, and Montclair will no longer charge fees or fines when residents fail to return items on time, according to a release from the Prince William County government. (Shutterstock)
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA Prince William Public Libraries will go fine-free starting on July 1, 2021. Patrons will still be responsible for paying for lost or stolen items, but all fines and fees will be removed from accounts after past-due items are returned.
The library system said that the change intends to remove barriers to accessing the library s services. In a news release, officials noted that fines most affect people with limited resources.

Farmers’ markets are coming back to Manassas and Prince William County.
This year, Historic Manassas Inc. is hosting their Manassas Farmers Market during peak season, which will run through mid-November.
The Market is split between Thursdays at the Harris Pavilion in Historic Downtown Manassas and Saturdays at the Prince William Commuter Lot across from Baldwin Elementary School.

In addition, the Market also has a SNAP Program. It allows people with food stamps to use them to shop at the market. This happens through a grant that allows the Market to match those people with their dollar-for-dollar program.

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning… Until 515 PM EDT. At 426 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Chantilly to near Bull Run to 10 miles west of Montclair, moving east at 35 mph.
HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts.

IMPACT…Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles. Locations impacted include… Arlington, Alexandria, Centreville, Dale City, Annandale, Springfield, South Riding, Fort Washington, Fairfax, Fort Hunt, Vienna, Groveton, Falls Church, Huntington, Mantua, Fort Belvoir, Pimmit Hills, Woodbridge, National Harbor and Reagan National Airport.

Ebenezer Kofi McCarthy (Age 80) passed away on Tuesday, March 9th at home in Dale City VA, following a courageous battle with cancer. He inspired family and friends with his intense level of bravery, steadfast determination and will to live. In life, he was a man of wisdom, strength and resilience.
Ebenezer was born on May 17, 1940 in Cape Coast, Ghana. He is the son of the late George McCarthy and Madam Mercy Adabie. He is the husband of Doris Oduro McCarthy. He is also survived by his daughters Sharon and Angelina; his sons Kenneth and Darion; Granddaughter, Giselle; including many devoted family and friends, who are left to cherish his memory.
