Perna identified as a soldier in the Lucchese crime family by federal prosecutors had been sent to attack Cantin in 2015 at a strip mall in Passaic County, where Perna and another man beat him with a slap jack, according to a criminal complaint.
In federal court, prosecutors had said that Manzo hired the reputed mobster to carry out the assault in exchange for a lavish wedding reception at the Brownstone, the venue that Manzo partly owns in Paterson.

Tommy Manzo, who previously faced raps for hiring a Mafioso to beat up Dina’s new spouse, has been indicted on charges, including robbery and stalking, prosecutors said.
The 56-year-old turned himself in without incident and will be held pending an appearance at Monmouth County Superior Court, officials said in a news release.

Thomas Manzo, 56, of Franklin Lakes, is facing charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree burglary, second- and third-degree aggravated assault, third-degree theft, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and third-degree criminal restraint, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
At 10:54 p.m. on May 13, 2017, police responded to a Banyan Boulevard townhouse after receiving a call from Cantín, 39, and Dina Manzo, 47, that they had been attacked by two unknown men as they entered the front door around 10:45 p.m.
