One person died after a home caught fire early Thursday morning on Klopman Mill Road in Denton.
The Denton Fire Department arrived on-scene at 2:45 a.m. on Thursday, Feb 25 to find an active fire.
Five people were inside at the time of the fire, according to the fire department. One person wasn t able to escape and was rescued by the fire department but later died at the scene, said Chief Travis Morris of the Denton Fire Department.
The fire started in the living room from a portable electric heating applicant, said Davidson County Fire Marshal Danny Ward.
No information has been released on the identity of the person who died or the condition of the others.
Group home staff said security protocols were followed after teen kidnapped from facility

The president and CEO of a local group home said staff followed all outlined protocols following the kidnapping of a teen from the facility.
Kayla Carlson, 15, disappeared last week from American Children s Home in Lexington. Authorities found her at a motel on Monday, Feb. 22 and arrested Christopher Steele Boles, 36, in connection with her kidnapping.
The Davidson County Sheriff s Office said Boles was communicating with Kayla on her school laptop prior to her disappearance.
A statement from American Children s Home s president and CEO Kathy Berrier outlined the safety practices in place at the facility.
