7-year-old girl critically injured after being hit by truck in Layton

LAYTON A 7-year-old Layton girl remained hospitalized Wednesday with injuries she suffered Monday when she was hit by a truck.
The incident happened about 3:30 p.m. Monday in a residential neighborhood near 1600 North and 1700 West. The girl was crossing the street at a T-intersection and had almost reached the other side when a pickup truck driven by a 35-year-old man hit her, causing critical injuries, said Layton Police Lt. Travis Lyman.
Police were looking at both distracted driving and impairment as possible factors in the crash, Lyman said, including whether the driver was looking at his cellphone. Additionally, detectives were waiting for the test results on blood taken from the driver to determine whether alcohol or drugs may have also been a factor, Lyman said,
FARMINGTON A 29-year-old Farmington man was shot and killed early Sunday morning after officials say he crashed into a police vehicle and advanced on officers with a weapon.
Farmington police and Utah Highway Patrol troopers were jointly investigating a stolen vehicle in the area. They were wrapping up the investigation and taking an inventory of the vehicle when a passenger car crashed into a Farmington police car, the release says.
Officials say the driver of that passenger car then emerged from the vehicle with a weapon and advanced toward officers, ignoring verbal commands. A trooper and Farmington police officer both fired at the man.
SUNSET â A Sunset man faces a string of felony charges after allegedly assaulting and threatening his girlfriend and sheriffâs deputies who showed up to investigate.
Deputies got the woman out of the home in the Friday evening incident and then retreated after Nicholas Milner allegedly pointed a gun in the direction of a deputy.
SWAT officers then were called in, and Milner surrendered following a standoff, according to a Davis County Sheriffâs Office probable cause affidavit.
In a 911 call, sheriffâs dispatchers heard a woman say, âLet me leave, nobody needs to get hurt,â the arrest affidavit said.

Investigators have identified a man who was shot and killed by officers on Sunday after he rammed a police vehicle and approached officers with a weapon.
Police fatally shot Robert Joseph Evans, 29, of Farmington, according to a joint statement by the Utah Highway Patrol and the Farmington Police.
Earlier, the agencies issued a statement saying that, just after 2 a.m. on Sunday, the Farmington Police Department and Utah Highway Patrol were close to wrapping up a stolen-vehicle investigation near the intersection of 650 West and State Street when a man crashed his car into a Farmington Police Department patrol vehicle.
