Assembly passes Second Amendment sanctuary bill that would bar enforcement of federal gun restrictions Molly Beck, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
MADISON - Wisconsin gun owners would not be subject to federal firearm laws under legislation up passed by Republicans and one Democrat in the state Assembly on Wednesday.
But the idea has been deemed unconstitutional in the past in other states because state law cannot override conflicting federal law under the U.S. Constitution.
Rep. Tip McGuire, D-Kenosha, said the legislation is inferior to the Second Amendment and in fact undermines the Constitution that we all swore an oath to uphold.
“The lack of oversight of these [outside] groups should concern everyone in the state of Wisconsin as we work toward transparent elections, state Rep. Janel Brandtjen says. Pictured: Biden supporters rally Nov. 7 in Madison, Wisconsin. (Photo: Joel Lerner/Xinhua /Getty Images)
MADISON, Wis. This capital city has become the fifth and last of Wisconsin’s so-called WI-5 cities to face a formal complaint alleging violations of election law in the November presidential contest in which Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump.
Saying they are concerned about liberal groups entrenched in administration of Wisconsin elections, a crowd of about nearly 140 turned out for a “Standing Up for Voter Integrity” rally at the State Capitol.
