Future MacBook Designs Leaked Online as Apple Supplier Hit By $50 Million Ransomware Attack

Quanta Computer, one of Apple’s prime suppliers, has been hit with a ransomware attack. The hacker group is demanding over $50 million from the supplier and is threatening Apple that it will leak future MacBook designs online.

The Record, Taiwan-based Apple supplier Quanta has been hit with a cyberattack, supposedly leaking future MacBook designs. Quanta Computer is reportedly supplying Apple with autonomous driving solutions for its upcoming Apple Car.
Quanta says that it has been “trying to recover data” and has been “conducting a detailed investigation to ensure containment and recovery of data are in the process”.

Apple has vowed to investigate after workers staged a riot at an iPhone factory in India amid allegations of exploitation and unpaid wages at the plant.
Cars were flipped over and set on fire while glass panels were smashed with rods and lights, fans and CCTV cameras were torn down during the rioting on Saturday.
Nearly 150 people have been arrested after the violence at the Wistron Infocomm Manufacturing facility, a Taiwan-based Apple supplier which makes iPhone 7 handsets on the outskirts of India s IT hub, Bangalore.
Local media reported workers saying they had not been paid for up to four months and were being forced to do extra shifts.
