BEIJING, April 28 (Xinhua) A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Wednesday voiced resolute opposition to separatist attempts in Taiwan including those through the so-called constitutional amendments. We will take all necessary countermeasures against such moves. This warning should be heeded before it is too late, said Ma Xiaoguang, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, in response to a query on remarks by sources from Taiwan s Democratic Progressive Party authority on amending the island s so-called constitution.
In complete disregard of Taiwan compatriots interests and well-being, a handful of separatist forces advocating Taiwan independence have been carrying out provocative and dangerous actions driven by selfish purposes, said Ma.

The root causes for the destabilized relations between the Chinese mainland and the Taiwan region are attempts by Taiwan s Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authority and independence forces seeking so-called Taiwan Independence, a Chinese mainland spokesperson said on Wednesday.
Ma Xiaoguang, the spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, made the remarks during a press briefing in response to a poll. The poll results showed that many Taiwan residents think military confrontations would be unavoidable if the two sides are to resolve their political disputes.
Ma said Beijing wouldn t comment on any specific polls from Taiwan as they are designed and formed differently.

BEIJING, April 26 Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin on Monday urged Australia to abide by the one-China principle and prudently handle Taiwan-related issues.
Wang stressed at a daily news briefing that abiding by the one-China principle is an inherent requirement of developing China-Australia relations, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of the Chinese territory.
The Taiwan issue is purely China s internal affair and involves the country s core interests, and no external forces are allowed to interfere, he said, adding that the root cause of the current tension in cross-Strait relations is that Taiwan s Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authority refuses to recognize the 1992 Consensus that embodies the one-China principle, and colludes with external forces to continuously seek independence.
