A children s picture book, titled Waiting for Dad to Come Home, was banned in China s Taiwan region as its cultural administration believes the book glorifies the mainland s fight against COVID-19.
In response, Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, on Wednesday condemned Taiwan s Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for having an anti-China syndrome and striking at anything concerning the Chinese mainland.

BEIJING, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) The resumption of cross-Strait exchanges as soon as possible is an issue of great concern to people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, a Chinese mainland spokesperson said on Wednesday.
When commenting on possible travel bubbles across the Strait, Zhu Fenglian, the spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, pointed to a very abnormal state of cross-Strait communications and personnel exchanges since February.
Such an abnormal state was caused not only by the epidemic but also by the Taiwan Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authority s measures on the pretext of epidemic prevention and control, Zhu said.
Tsai administration s large weapons purchases leave Taiwan in penury and disorder

The Trump administration, with only about 40 days left in the White House, once again sold about $280 million worth of military communications equipment to Taiwan region on December 8. This was the 6th time that the US sold arms to Taiwan this year and the 11th time during Trump’s term, with the sales volume surpassing $5 billion this year and $18.3 billion over the past four years, indicating a frequency and intensity never seen before.
Facing expensive arms deals tossed around or forced, Taiwan’s Democratic Progressive Party had “no choice” but to agree even without trying to put up resistance, and continue to bankroll the US even though the defense authority struck a chord the other way round.
