Taipei, March 5 (CNA) Taiwan s manufacturing industry saw its growth accelerate in January from a stable state in the previous month, with an index gauging the health of the sector flashing a yellow-red light for the first time since September 2010, the Taiwan Institute of Economic Research (TIER) said Friday.
One of the leading think tanks in Taiwan, TIER attributed the prospering economic trend to gradual recovery around the world as more and more countries began their vaccination programs against COVID-19, as well as the continuing booming stay-at-home economy that has prompted demand for electronic information products.

Business sentiment among local manufacturers last month climbed for the ninth straight month to 106.42, the highest since October 2007, as restocking demand ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday ramped up their business, a survey by the Taiwan Institute of Economic Research (台灣經濟研究院) showed on Thursday.
Many manufacturers described their business as healthy last month and are looking forward to a continued uptick in the coming six months, the institute’s economic forecasting center director Gordon Sun (孫明德) said.
