Taipei, May 19 (CNA) Taiwan’s No. 1 hospital on Wednesday called on non-emergency patients to stop visiting its emergency room after 10 non health-worker employees at the hospital tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus disease.
National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) Vice Superintendent Wang Tyng-guey (王亭貴) announced that the hospital has stopped admitting new patients and performing non-urgent surgeries.
It has also cut down the number of regular outpatient clinics, with immediate effect, in an effort to prevent the further spread of the pandemic.
The hospital will test all employees, around 7,000 people, within two days, to determine whether there are more confirmed COVID-19 cases at NTUH, Wang added.
