BEIJING, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Friday said that Taiwan s Democratic Progressive Party authority s desperate clinging to the wrong position of Taiwan independence is abominable.
Ma Xiaoguang, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, commented on the DPP authority s defamation of the mainland after the establishment of a Taiwan office in Guyana was terminated by the South American country s government.
Taiwan is an inalienable part of China. The one-China principle is a widely recognized norm of international relations, and a common consensus of the international community, said Ma.

By playing the trick of a so-called diplomatic breakthrough, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authority in Taiwan will only disgrace itself and will be doomed to fail, a Chinese mainland spokesperson said Friday.
Ma Xiaoguang, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, made the remarks in response to the latest announcement by the government of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, which terminated the establishment of a âTaiwan officeâ in Guyana.
The DPP authority earlier promoted its recent move to establish an office in Guyana, calling it a âdiplomatic breakthrough.â
âWe always oppose Chinaâs Taiwan region developing any official ties with countries that have diplomatic relations with us,â said Ma.

The stark warning comes as China has increased tensions with Taiwan by stepping up military activities and declaring that independence means war last week.
Taiwan has been claimed by China as one of its territories, with Beijing having deployed fighter jets and bombers into the island s airspace as recently as the weekend.
China believes Taiwan s democratically-elected government is moving the island towards a formal declaration of independence, but Taiwan s president Tsai Ing-wen has repeatedly said that the island is already an independent nation.
Despite this, China has ramped up military drills near the island in recent weeks, including deploying 15 fighter jets into Taiwan airspace twice in two days last month.
