All primary care services were made available to the public between 8 am and 4 pm. The Tobago Regional Health Authority took possession of the hospital from Udecott on Saturday afternoon, with a simple handover of keys and relevant documents and a walk-through. The hospital was built at a cost of $98 million in 18 months.

The Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development on Tuesday announced ten new covid19 cases in Tobago in the last 24 hours. The division said three covid19 patients have been discharged. There are 53 active cases on the island – a record high. The number of samples submitted to the Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA) and other local sites for testing is 4,422. Overall, the number of positive samples is 247. Deaths remain at two.

The country recorded 326 new covid19 infections and four more deaths on Friday afternoon, taking the total number of cases to 10,826 and deaths to up to 169. This was the final count to end the month on Friday in the Ministry of Health’s 4 pm update. On April 1, the country had had 8,072 cases and 145 deaths. There have been 2,752 new infections and 24 more deaths in April. The month started with 309 active cases. On Friday, the ministry reported 2,174 active cases. Of these, 1,651 patients are in home isolation, 173 in patients in hospital, and 24 in step-down facilities waiting to be discharged. There are also 251 people in state quarantine.

The death toll has also increased to 163 after the Ministry of Health recorded two new deaths in its 4 pm update on Wednesday. There are now 1,656 active cases. Twenty-four people are in step-down facilities waiting to be discharged, 150 patients are in hospital, and 1,259 in home isolation. The ministry also reported that 199 people are still in state quarantine.

This will be Dr Rowley s first such briefing since emerging from isolation after contracting covid19. He spent the period from April 6 to his recovery on April 26 in isolation at the PM s official residence in Blenheim, Tobago, under the care of medical professionals from the Tobago Regional Health Authority. This morning the PM reportedly chaired a meeting on covid19 with the ministries of Health and National Security. Yesterday 223 new covid19 cases were recorded in Trinidad and Tobago.
