PQFTL, Dow University sign MoU July 7, 2021 KARACHI: Pak-Qatar Family Takaful Limited (PQFTL) has signed an agreement with Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) to provide high quality service to its valuable participants. With the enlistment of this hospital on PQFTL’s panel, maximum health card holders would be able to utilise quality health services. The MoU was signed by PQFTL CEO Azeem Iqbal Pirani and DUHS Registrar Dr Ashar Afaq, along with senior officials from both organisations. Pirani said, “We are glad to take DUHS on our panel and it is part of our customer-centric approach in offering convenience and best health services to our valuable participants.”

‘Rangers, ANF are there to help youth falling into drug addiction’ June 29, 2021 Sindh Rangers Director General Major General Iftikhar Hassan Chaudhry on Monday said youngsters even from ideal families are getting addicted to synthetic drugs like ecstasy and ice (crystal methamphetamine) at educational institutions, but the paramilitary force and the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) can help them get rid of their dependence on illicit drugs. “Youngsters from not only abusive but even from good and ideal families can get addicted to drugs. It’s the responsibility of their friends to help them, and in this regard, the Rangers and ANF can be approached. I assure you, we won’t treat them like criminals. Instead, we’ll help them get rid of the addiction,” Chaudhry said while addressing students at the Ojha campus of the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS).

Health to get Rs172 billion in next fiscal year, 29 49pc more than last year s allocation

June 16, 2021 Increasing the budgetary allocation for health by 29.49 per cent from Rs132.884 billion to Rs172 billion in the next fiscal year, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said Tuesday Rs24.73 billion had also been allocated to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, including Rs17.22 billion for provision of health risk allowance. “The next financial year will witness an increase of around 30 per cent in the total allocation for the health sector, including medical education. An allocation of Rs172 billion has been proposed as against an allocation of Rs132.88 billion in 2020-21, while 18.5 billion rupees have been pitched for the ADP of health,” he announced in his budget speech at the Sindh Assembly amid chaos due to a protest by the opposition.
