Pair not prosecuted over alleged rape of drunk woman in Shinjuku

Hayato Tamura, 22, was alleged to have worked with Ippei Kuribayashi, 23, to confine the woman, aged in her 20s, inside the vehicle for up to three hours early on November 11, 2018, while sexually assaulting her.
Upon his arrest last year, Tamura admitted to the allegations. Meanwhile, Kuribayashi partially denied the charges, police said at the time.
On Wednesday, prosecutors with the Tokyo District Public Prosecutor’s Office announced the non-prosecution of both men. No reason for the non-prosecution was given.

According to police, at least one of the suspects encountered the woman while she was sitting on the footpath after she went out drinking.

Woman not prosecuted for leaving corpse of newborn in apartment

TOKYO (TR) – Prosecutors last week did not prosecute a 26-year-old woman for leaving the corpse of her newborn in an apartment in Shinagawa Ward, reports Kyodo News (Dec. 18).
On December 6, Akane Aramaki, of no known occupation, allegedly left the body of the newborn girl inside a black bag in the bathroom of her boyfriend’s apartment.
“I was in some trouble at the time of the birth, so I decided to leave [the body] in the bag for the time being,” Aramaki was quoted by the Oi Police Station in admitting to the allegations.

According to police, the casino, which provided baccarat action, was allegedly managed by Masayuki Miwa, a 39-year-old member of the Yamaguchi-gumi criminal syndicate.
Police raided the casino in October and seized at least one baccarat table.
Miwa denied the allegations upon his arrest. “I did not participate at all,” Miwa was quoted.
On Monday, prosecutors with the Tokyo District Public Prosecutor’s Office announced the non-prosecution of Miwa. No reason for the non-prosecution was given. However, two other persons arrested in the case were prosecuted.

In October, the suspects, including 23-year-old Nguyen Tien Manh, were alleged to have worked together to send a package containing around 2,000 tablets of MDMA, or Ecstasy, from Vietnam to Japan in the international mail.
Police believed that the suspects were part of a smuggling ring. However, all six of the suspects denied the allegations upon their arrests in November.
On Wednesday, prosecutors with the Tokyo District Public Prosecutor’s Office announced the non-prosecution of the six. No reason for the non-prosecution was given.
The tablets, which weighed a total of 826 grams, were concealed inside 5 bags of dried shrimp. The contraband had an estimated value of 8 million yen, police said previously.
