Oceanside police tell residents to be careful as bees swarm

OCEANSIDE     A swarm of bees that stung at least two people in Oceanside on Tuesday afternoon had the city’s Police Department warning residents to stay inside. The Oceanside Police Department said on Twitter shortly after 3:30 p.m. that the bee swarm was a “threat to public safety” and urged everyone near Douglas Drive and North El Camino Real to stay inside until the swarming was over. Oceanside police spokesman Tom Bussey said the swarm was discovered by employees at a muffler shop when a 75-year-old man who was walking by was attacked by the bees and stung multiple times.

Oceanside police officer walks into 7-Eleven, finds an armed robbery in progress

OCEANSIDE    A police officer who walked into a 7-Eleven store in Oceanside early Monday interrupted an armed robbery when she saw a man threatening two clerks with a gun. The officer entered the convenience store on Mission Avenue near Canyon Drive shortly before 1 a.m. and saw the man pointing a silver revolver-type handgun at the store employees, said police spokesman Tom Bussey. The gunman fled the store and jumped over a fence into a bus parking area for the Oceanside Unified School District. Bussey said the officer called for assistance and more police arrived to help search for the suspect.
