LAX begins rapid COVID-19 testing for travelers [Los Angeles Times :: BC-CNS-LAX-CORONAVIRUS-TESTING:LA]
LOS ANGELES Despite a stay-at-home order across much of California and a plea from health officials to refrain from traveling amid the worst surge of the coronavirus to date, many people are still flying in and out of Los Angeles International Airport.
In an effort to make travel as safe as possible, LAX opened an onsite rapid COVID-19 testing site on Thursday.
Justin Erbacci, CEO of Los Angeles World Airports, said the airport supports the health advisories that are in place. “But we know that there are people who are traveling, and there are people who have essential travel,” he said. “We want to have this place to help those people who are traveling travel more healthy and safe.”

A passenger who collapsed on a packed flight to Los Angeles died of acute respiratory failure and COVID-19, a coroner s report confirms. Certified tests it has to be, Dania said. Any other lab in L.A., they re not certified, they re not qualified, only certain people there qualify that s a huge corruption.
So he flew back to L.A. to get that certified test and plans to return to Hawaii on Thursday evening. He said he was grateful for the convenient, accessible service at the LAX lab. Those people there are super, super helpful. I explained my situation, they tried to accommodate me, they scheduled me, Dania said, adding that he received his results within hours.
The lab is right there with the collection facility so people will be able to have their test done much faster than if their samples had to be sent off airport property, LAWA s Charles Pannunzio told City News Service.
The lab will also process 24-hour results that are available in Terminal 2 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal, Pannunzio said.

LAX opens rapid COVID-19 testing facility
A rapid COVID-19 testing facility opened Thursday at LAX.
The $125 nasal swab tests are administered and processed at the airport, and LAWA officials called the purpose-built on-site lab a first-of-its-kind for airports. Tests are available between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily.
The testing facility and lab are located in a modular shipping container structure across the street from Terminal 6 on the Lower/Arrivals level, between parking structures 6 and 7. The building has shade coverings outside and floor markers to ensure physical distance between people in line.
