Dorset Museum announces reopening date

AFTER almost three years and a £16m transformation, Dorset Museum is finally ready to reopen its doors. The wait is almost over as museum bosses announce they will be reopening to the public on May 28 after the completion of a £16.1m building project that started in October 2018. The museum, formerly known as Dorset County Museum, was originally scheduled to reopen in September 2020 but bosses were forced to push back the reopening date due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the progress of the refurbishment. Museum staff are now excited to welcome guests back to see four new permanent galleries, a special exhibitions gallery, collections centre, library, shop and café.
