Fordingbridge Town Council s concerns over Local Plan proposals

FORDINGBRIDGE Town Council says it can see “no justification” for any expansion in Alderholt and more housing would impact on existing highways problems. The council has responded to Dorset Council’s draft Local Plan for 2021 to 2038, setting out its vision for future development. Two options for Alderholt are being put forward - one for “small-scale expansion” on land north of Ringwood Road with around 300 new homes as well as land for employment facilities while the second is for “significant expansion”. Fordingbridge Town Council says New Forest District Council (NFDC) Local Plan, which has already been adopted, will see a “considerable increase” in the number of houses in the town and that any increase in houses under either proposal in Alderholt would have “further significant adverse impact” on the roads in the town.

Concerns over Swanage traveller site plans in Dorset Local Plan

RESIDENTS have expressed concerns about proposals for a traveller site in Swanage. The site is outlined within the Dorset Council Local Plan, which is essentially a blueprint for preferred development within the county until 2038. This local plan, currently under consultation until March 15, has already been criticised as inadequate by the Dorset branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), who also say residents will not have time to read the 2,000 pages it contains before the March deadline. As well as setting out preferred sites for almost 30,500 new homes to be built, the Dorset Council Local Plan outlines potential infrastructure projects, retail and employment sites.
