Despite huge advances in investigative techniques there have been no recent breakthroughs in relation to the killings. Victims died between 1960 and 2000 and ages range from a newborn baby girl to a 74-year-old grandmother. Detective Chief Inspector Jez Noyce, of Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT), told the Daily Echo: “We will continue to thoroughly investigate any new lines of enquiry that emerge and all unsolved murder cases where there are no active lines of enquiry will still be subject to periodic reviews by Dorset Police. Stephen Cole killed Marta Vento at Travelodge in Christchurch Road, Bournemouth A PICTURE of the man who killed a receptionist at the Bournemouth hotel where she worked has been released by police for the first time. Stephen Richard Cole, 32, bludgeoned Marta Vento to death at Travelodge in Christchurch Road while she was working a nightshift on the morning of December 9 last year. At a hearing on May 4 at Winchester Crown Court Cole pleaded not guilty to murder but admitted manslaughter. These pleas were accepted by the prosecution on the basis of ‘partial diminished responsibility . Cole, who was remanded into custody at Ravenswood House Hospital in Fareham, Hampshire, is due to be sentenced at the same court on June 1.

Sherrie Teresa Milnes suffered multiple stab wounds and neck compression at a flat in Ranelagh Road on April 1. Her family have today paid tribute to the beloved mother of five - on the day of her funeral. Ms Milnes family said: Sherrie Teresa Milnes was born and raised in London, by her mother and step father. She moved to Weymouth and Portland in her early 20s. She was the most amazing mother of five children, and a nanny to four grandchildren whom she adored.

Couple named as inquest into double-death tragedy opens

INQUESTS have opened into the deaths of a woman and man found dead in a suspected murder-suicide. Sherrie Teresa Milnes suffered multiple stab wounds and neck compression at a flat in Ranelagh Road, Weymouth, on April 1. Dorset Police officers were called to the address at 5.40pm by the ambulance service but the 51-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. Later that evening, police – including armed officers - were called to an address on Grove Road, Portland. Steven Anthony Doughty, aged 54, was found dead at the scene. An inquest opening into his death heard he was found hanged. Police confirmed the pair were known to each other.
