CAMPAIGNERS hope that forthcoming talks with NHS bosses about the future of Purbeck s paramedic car will help safeguard its future. Last month concerned residents told Swanage Town Council about the importance of the ambulance car to the local area. Many residents believe it is set to be withdrawn from service, despite assurances from Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group (DCCG) that no decision has been made to date. Now, Debby Monkhouse, Swanage town councillor and one of the campaigners pushing to secure the future of the service, says a joint reply – from the DCCG and South Western Ambulance Service Trust (SWAST) – has offered up an engagement event to look at possible options.
THERE is still time to participate in a survey about residents experiences with Dorset s special educational needs services. Dorset Council has launched a survey to gather the views and experiences of children and young people aged up to 25-years-old with additional needs, who use services provided in the county. Parents of young people with special educational needs are also invited to participate in the survey. A spokesman for Dorset Council said: Your views are very important. What you tell us will be used to update the Dorset Special Educational Needs and Disability Strategy, and help both Dorset Council and the Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group to continue with their improvement work.

St Thomas Garnet s School in Parkwood Road, Boscombe PLANNING permission has been granted for a new multi-million pound injury and illness rehabilitation centre in Boscombe. BCP Council has approved AECC University College’s plans to demolish the former St Thomas Garnet’s School sports hall to make way for the integrated rehabilitation centre. It said the loss of the hall, and part of the school field was “significantly outweighed” by the benefits of the new facility. The university submitted its planning application at the end of last month, seeking permission to expand its healthcare offering. The move followed the decision of the university to buy the former private school in Parkwood Road. It has since moved some of its operations to the site.
