CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - As the COVID-19 vaccination rollout continues across the state, school staff and others prepare to receive inoculations as part of those eligible for Phase 1B.
Dorchester School District Two says they are holding an emergency E-Learning Day for certain grade levels to help teachers and school staff get their first dose of the vaccine.
At Summerville High School, middle and high school teachers from across DD2 will receive their first dose of the Moderna vaccine from Fetter Health Care network.

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) - Dorchester School District Two officials were ready to jump the moment phase 1B opened up with a COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Monday. Phase 1B includes frontline workers including teachers, people over 16 with a qualifying medical condition and anyone over 55.
That means virtually everyone working for the district could get a shot starting March 8.
Patrick Pye is the principal at Rollings Middle School of the Arts. He says it’s an opportunity a lot of employees are taking advantage of.
The Charleston County school board approved an academic calendar for the 2021-2022 school year. The board selected Option A which recommends the 2022 spring break the week of April 11 through April 15.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Dorchester School District 2 says both their middle school and high school students who have opted for learning in-person will be heading back to the classroom.
DD2 says students will return Monday for face-to-face education for the first time in about a year.
With all these students coming back for five days of in-person learning, some district officials say
this will be like the first day of school for these kids.

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - All students at Dorchester School District 2 will be back in school full time by the end of February.
On Monday night, the school board approved the amended plan which would have a transitional period starting on Feb 2. with all schools back to face-to-face classes five days a week by Feb. 22.
