Health department hosts COVID-19 vaccine clinic at Whitehouse Cherry Fest

The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department says they want to make sure vaccines are available wherever people are. Author: Emily Cohen Updated: 10:20 PM EDT June 11, 2021 WHITEHOUSE, Ohio You can walk right up and get your COVID-19 vaccine while at the Whitehouse Cherry Fest. The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department is there with both Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer vaccines. This is for anyone who wants to come out and get vaccinated. The health department says they want to make sure vaccines are available wherever people are. In the county, we re seeing our vaccination rate starting to plateau and we really, really want to get back into the community and tell them it s really important to get vaccinated so you can have a safe fun summer, said Eileen Thompson, Emergency Response Coordinator with the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department.

That was the message from Health Commissioner Eric Zgodzinski Thursday during a Toledo-Lucas County Health Department news briefing. Gov. Mike DeWine said Wednesday night all health orders in the state will be lifted in a few weeks, and Zgodzinski supports the decision. COVID doesn t just leave our community June 2, he said. But it s time to get back to normal and we ll deal with COVID as it comes at us. As long as we have the vaccine, we ll be able to handle it.

Updated: 2:26 PM EDT May 13, 2021 TOLEDO, Ohio The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department is partnering with area school districts to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to students and their families. The FDA recently approved the Pfizer vaccine for emergency use in kids ages 12-15.  Students under 18 will be required to have a signed consent form from a parent or guardian.  The Pfizer vaccine requires two doses. The following districts have scheduled vaccine clinics: Toledo Public Start: May 18 and June 8, noon-6 p.m. Rogers: May 18 and June 8, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Waite: May 19 and June 9, noon-6 p.m.

The vaccination process has gotten an upgrade with the VProject s V Days.   Starting May 10 – 16, VProject volunteers will be out in the community to help raise awareness during “V Days.” The VProject’s goal is to help vaccinate 70% of Toledo and northwest Ohio and be a model for other cities.
