Dover teacher cuts in negotiations as budget deadline looms

Dover teacher cuts in negotiations as budget deadline looms DOVER –  As the Dover School Board faces a March 2 deadline to finalize the city school district s next fiscal year budget, negotiations with its teachers unions regarding staff reductions are ongoing.  The board is now evaluating district-wide staff reductions of 12 teaching positions – seven at the middle school and five at Dover High School – and 18 paraprofessionals – 14 at the elementary level, three at the middle school and one at Dover High School – and a few other clerical positions.  This estimate is down from the previously discussed cut of 40 teaching positions, and an increase from the 13 paraeducators and three clerks previously discussed in public meetings.
