Taft lifts associate starting salaries in a bid for talent

Taft Stettinius & Hollister has announced an increase in associate salaries across its various markets in a bid to draw talent in a competitive market.
This action follows a period of some uncertainty for the legal business in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Like many large law firms, Taft, which is based in Cincinnati but is one of the larger firms in Cleveland, took steps to mitigate the impact of the pandemic last year as work in some practices slowed down. Those steps included trimming pay or partner draws, eliminating or reducing pay increases, and furloughing or laying off staff, including some attorneys, according to Crain s research.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - A developer and a Sycamore Township trustee are trading accusations of bribery and forgery in separate lawsuits.
Morelia Group CEO Christopher Hildebrant sued Sycamore Township Trustee Tom Weidman in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court earlier this month.
He accuses Weidman of soliciting bribes for proposed land deals in Sycamore Township’s Kenwood area between 2009 and 2012, the lawsuit shows.
This comes after Weidman sued Hildebrant for defamation in February in Warren County Common Pleas Court. Weidman’s lawsuit alleges Hildebrant created a “fake email” to make it look like Weidman solicited a bribe.
