Expatriates seem to be willing to go to any extent to circumvent the existing ban on flights from India to a number of Gulf countries, including Oman and the United Arab Emirates. Travel agencies have begun accepting reservations for charter flights from Kerala to Oman via Uzbekistan, which includes a 14-day stay in the Central Asian country.
Travel agencies have been looking for new ways to get around the ban on direct flights from India to the UAE and Oman, which took effect on April 24 after transit routes to the Gulf via Nepal and the Maldives were blocked after those countries tightened their regulations for Indian passengers.
