ORLEN Lietuva contracts DuPont Clean Technologies for alkylation technology

Advertisement DuPont Clean Technologies has been awarded the contract to supply ORLEN Lietuva with licensing, engineering, and technical services for a STRATCO ® alkylation unit and a MECS ® spent acid regeneration (SAR) unit at the Mažeikiai refinery in Mažeikiai, Lithuania. The Mažeikiai refinery processes an average of 8 million tpy of crude with capacity of up to 10 million tpy of crude. In order to increase refinery complexity and flexibility of the Mažeikiai refinery, ORLEN commissioned DuPont for a STRATCO alkylation unit with 240 000 tpy (6000 bpd) alkylate capacity. The alkylation unit will utilise LPG in the conversion to alkylate, and therefore upgrade refinery profitability. The 75 tpd MECS SAR unit, also under license from DuPont, will provide the refinery with a consistent supply of sulfuric acid, which is utilised as the catalyst for the alkylation unit, while ensuring compliance with the region’s stringent emission regulations.

BroadPeak Global-led consortium to buy DuPont Clean Technologies for $510m Photo by Andrea Natali on Unsplash February 2, 2021 A private equity consortium comprising New York-based BroadPeak Global LP, China-based Asia Green Fund (AGF) and The Saudi Arabian Industrial Investments Company (Dussur) announced on Monday that it has signed a definitive agreement to buy the Clean Technologies business of US-listed chemicals firm DuPont de Nemours for $510 million in cash. As part of the transaction, San Francisco-based investment firm Tensile Capital Management LP is providing preferred equity financing. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2021 subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, according to a statement.

News | January 15, 2021 DuPont Clean Technologies To Develop Scrubbing Project With BELCO® Technology To Control The Emissions Of Empresa Nacional De Petróleo (ENAP) The new scrubber will allow the ENAP Refinerías Aconcagua refinery to exceed Chilean emissions targets Wilmington, DE (PRWEB) - Chilean oil refiner ENAP Refinerías S.A. has selected BELCO® scrubbing technology, licensed by DuPont Clean Technologies (DuPont), to improve emissions control from its 31,449 BPSD fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit at the Aconcagua refinery. This new BELCO® wet scrubber will reduce sulfur oxide and particulate emissions from the FCCU (fluid catalytic cracking unit) to well below Chilean emissions requirements. This will be the second BELCO® Scrubber for ENAP. ENAP previously commissioned a BELCO® scrubber for its FCCU at the BioBio refinery in 2018.
