rsmith@tribtoday.com WARREN The Warren City Health Department and the Trumbull County Combined Health District report that through Wednesday afternoon they have provided 1,291 COVID-19 vaccinations. This does not include vaccinations given Thursday morning at Packard Music Hall in Warren. John May, Warren’s deputy health commissioner, on Wednesday told council members during their meeting that the city is expecting to have fewer coronavirus vaccines available next week, which mirrors what is happening across the state and other areas of the country. Working in tandem with the county’s health department, May said the two departments are attempting to get as many people vaccinated as possible without putting anyone in danger.

Spike in deaths linked to Warren facility | News, Sports, Jobs

WARREN Deaths of 23 people at one long-term care facility in Warren are one reason for the huge spike in COVID-19 deaths in Trumbull County in December, city Deputy Health Commissioner John May said. “We did experience an overwhelming number of deaths in December. We had a couple outbreaks at several long-term care facilities,” he said. “There was an overwhelming spread in one particular facility. This facility had 23 deaths in the month of December alone.” May did not identify the facility, nor did the Ohio Department of Health. He added that the facility had one death in January so far. May said the facility also did not report the deaths to the Warren Board of Health and is alleged to have not followed certain CDC guidelines regarding employees coming to work after testing positive for the virus.

Staff writers BAZETTA Hundreds of people lined up Wednesday morning at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Some of them did not leave happy after waiting for hours in long lines. Among those in line was 82-year-old Sue Sperling of Howland, who said her reason for getting the vaccine is personal. “We want to end this thing so we can go back to some kind of normalcy in our lives. I’d like to hug my grandchildren and my children. I haven’t been able to do that since March of last year. As a widow alone, that’s really depressing,” Sperling said.
