Trumbull sees drop in numbers at nursing homes | News, Sports, Jobs

Although Trumbull County still had the highest number of COVID-19 nursing home deaths in the Mahoning Valley this week at seven, that is a smaller number than it has been in the past month. Trumbull County nursing home deaths were at 144 this week compared to 137 last week. The increase last week was 16, the week before that 21, and the week before that 13, according to the Ohio Department of Health. Mahoning County’s number of nursing home deaths (206) rose by two this week. Columbiana County nursing home deaths rose by one to 67. Meanwhile, the number of Trumbull County nursing homes and assisted-living facilities with at least three combined patient, and staff COVID-19 infections dropped from seven to two.

erunyan@tribtoday.com COVID-19 deaths at Trumbull County nursing homes and assisted-living facilities rose by 16 this week, continuing the high number of deaths that have been recorded in the county in the past three weeks. The number of deaths rose from 87 to 100 two weeks ago (up 13), from 100 to 121 last week (up 21) and from 121 to 137 this week (up 16). That adds up to 50 additional Trumbull County nursing home deaths in the last three weeks, according to Ohio Department of Health data. The state does not report which nursing homes and assisted-living facilities had deaths each week, only a total for each county.

And, Gillette Nursing Home in Warren reappeared on the list with 15 new patient cases and 16 new staff cases.
