WARREN – An 89-year-old woman was killed Sunday inside a home when she was struck by gunfire erupting outside a Starlite Street NW home.
Ruth Lewis, 89, was sitting in a living room around 7:30 p.m. when the bullet struck her in the back, according to a 911 call. She was unconscious and didn’t appear to be breathing, according to the call.
She was transported to Trumbull Regional Medical Center and later died.
Several 911 calls indicate shots were fired from one or two vehicles that were driving erratically on the road.
The call made by the woman’s granddaughter and grandson from inside the 3178 Starlite St. NW home was frantic.
